ROTOTUNA JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (RJHS) ENROLMENT APPLICATION FORM (Years 7 to 10)

Please note that enrolled out of zone RJHS students are not eligible to enrol at Rototuna Senior High School if they are still living out of zone when they are ready for Year 11 as our Senior High do not currently take any out of zone students.

2027 FRIEND/HAPU REQUESTS - ONLY OFFERED TO CONFIRMED BULK INTAKE IN ZONE enrolments that are received and confirmed by 16 OCTOBER 2026. Parents will be emailed a link to a 'Friend/Hapu Request' google form once their childs enrolment is confirmed. Please note that for all enrolments received and/or confirmed after 16 October we are not able to accommodate any requests for students to be placed into any particular learning areas, students will be placed according to availability and balancing criteria.

ROTOTUNA HIGH SCHOOLS (RHS) consist of two schools on one site, a Junior High School (RJHS, Years 7 to 10) and a Senior High School (RSHS, Years 11 to 13)

Students MUST enrol for each school separately. Students who attend RJHS up to Year 10 must complete a new enrolment application if they wish to attend RSHS from Year 11, this is not an automatic process, and they MUST live within the schools zone.

Enrolment Applications MUST be completed using a COMPUTER or LAPTOP, submissions WILL NOT come through correctly from a mobile phone or an ipad.

By completing this form, you are pre-enrolling your child at Rototuna JUNIOR High School.

'Pre-enrolment' refers to the process of applying for entry to the school. 'Enrolment' occurs when all pre-enrolment procedures (including submission of all supplementary forms and documents) have been accepted as complete by the School, attendance at the School commences and the student is marked present on the Rototuna High Schools (RHS) roll.

A separate form must be completed for each child in the family wishing to pre-enrol for RHS.

If the enrolling student holds a Visitor Visa, an Interim Visitor Visa or an International Student Visa please COMPLETE THIS ENROLMENT FORM AND ALSO EMAIL international@rhs.school.nz for further information.

RJHS (Junior High) may offer a limited number of OUT OF ZONE spaces for bulk intake enrolments, this will be decided by the schools board of trustees each year.

RSHS (Senior High) does NOT offer any out of zone spaces.

The enrolling 'in zone' student MUST be living at the in zone address provided in the enrolment form on the first day of attendance.

Let us know if you are signed up to build and/or purchase in zone in the near future and please provide a signed sales and purchase agreement and land title as proof of address, along with build plans and a letter from your builder with an estimated start and finish time for the build. Contact will be made directly with you in order to verify your individual circumstances before the enrolment is confirmed. Please note that the student must be living at the in zone property on the first day of attendance.

JUNIOR HIGH IN ZONE ENROLMENT APPLICATIONS - DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:

Proof of Address:

TWO documents from the following list for IN ZONE applications:

  • Current tenancy agreement
  • Sale and purchase agreement
  • Recent fixed power/gas bill
  • Recent fixed landline phone bill
  • Recent broadband bill

Identification and Eligibility:

  • If the student was born in NZ please attach their NZ Birth Certificate or Passport
  • If the student was not born in NZ please attach their Passport or Birth Certificate in English, AND their Domestic Visa OR NZ Residency Cert OR NZ Citizenship Cert

Also provide the following documents if possible or if applicable:

  • An immunisation certificate is helpful (in case of an outbreak) but will not halt the enrolment process
  • Proof of official guardianship/caregivers if the enrolling student is not living with their parent/s
  • Parenting/custody documents
  • A recent school report (required for in zone enrolments throughout the school year/starting after the first week of the school year, and for all out of zone applications, not required for beginning of year intake in zone applications)
  • Any relevant information if the student has specific physical or academic requirements that we need to be aware of

JUNIOR HIGH OUT OF ZONE ENROLMENT APPLICATIONS - DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:

IN ZONE ENROLMENTS BASED ON FALSE INFORMATION OR TEMPORARY RESIDENCE

The Ministry of Education has advised that parents and caregivers should be warned of the possible consequences of attempting to gain enrolment by knowingly giving a false address or false information or by making an in-zone living arrangement which is intended to be only temporary and specifically to gain enrolment at RHS. For example:

  • Renting accommodation in-zone on a short term basis
  • Arranging temporary board in-zone with a relative or family friend
  • Using the in-zone address of a relative or friend as an 'address of convenience', with no intention to live there on an on-going basis
  • Moving a student to live with a relative or friend in zone specifically to gain enrolment
  • Using an address that you no longer live at

If the school learns that a student is not living at the in-zone address given at the time of pre-enrolment, or the School has reasonable grounds to believe that a temporary in-zone residence has been used for the purpose of gaining in zone enrolment at the School then the Board may review that enrolment. Unless the parents can provide a satisfactory explanation within 10 days, the Board may annul the enrolment. This course of action is provided for under Sections 110 and 110A of the Education Act 1989.

Please note that we do from time to time complete random home visits to verify students residential addresses.

All changes to the student's usual place of residence when the School is open for instruction MUST be immediately notified to the School in writing.
