COLLECTION & USE OF INFORMATION
The information on this form is collected and used by Stonefields School to provide education for your child, and for associated school activities. Information collected on this form will be available to all staff of the school, and to members of the School Board. We ask that you please advise the school if you have any concerns about disclosure of any specific information. The information we collect and/or share for the purpose of supporting your child's education is outlined below.
Statement of Purpose
In accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 the information you provide in relation to your child's enrolment, and subsequent information collected and recorded from time to time by Stonefields School is collected for the purposes of:
- The Board and/or the School meeting its obligations under the Education and Training Act 2020
- Providing for the student's education
- Recording and maintaining student records of academic progress and achievement
- Reporting to parents/caregivers
- Providing and accessing accurate information to and from other education providers to ensure positive and safe student transfer
- Recording and maintaining accounts
- Communication with parents/caregivers
- The school is sometimes obliged by law to give information to government departments (eg Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health etc), but it will not otherwise be disclosed without your authorisation
IMPORTANT - SCHOOL ZONE
The address given at the time of application for enrolment must be the student’s usual place of residence when the child starts school. This means that if you currently live at an in-zone address but move to an out of zone address before your child's first day of attendance at the School, you will not be entitled to enrol at the School.
The Ministry of Education has advised that parents should also be warned of the possible consequences of deliberately attempting to gain unfair priority in enrolment by knowingly giving a false address or making an in-zone living arrangement which they intend to be only temporary e.g.:
• Renting accommodation in-zone on a short-term basis. Please take note you are required to live in-zone for a minimum of 1 YEAR from the time your child starts school for your child to continue attending Stonefields School.
• Using the in-zone address of a relative or friend as an “address of convenience” with no intention to live there on an on-going basis.
Before enrolment takes place (i.e. before attendance begins), if the School has reasonable grounds for believing that the given in-zone address will not be a genuine, on-going living arrangement, the School may withdraw any offer of a placement which it may have made based on the given address.
After attendance has begun, if a student moves out of zone within one year and the Board has reasonable grounds to believe that a temporary in-zone residence has been used for the purpose of unfairly gaining priority in enrolment at the School, then the Board may annul the enrolment.
